Animal allergy and the Zoo

HI,

My daughter, 3, is very allergic to dogs and cats. Last year we went to the zoo with her and her brother (at that time they were 2 and 1) and it was like 95 degrees out. Anyways, DD was itching like crazy and her eyes got really red and swollen and she was hysterical. We didn't stay too long. At that time we thought that the heat was making her itch (she has pretty serious atopic dermatitis) and I thought that I had accidentally gotten sunblock in her eyes. In hindsight, I am wondering if it may have been a reaction to the animal dander or peanut proteins everywhere, etc. She did have some hives inside her arms. So, here we are at zoo season again and I am curious to know your experiences with it. I don't want to risk it if dander allergic people have had reactions, too, but if it was just heat and sunblock, I can avoid those triggers...btw, she has no real outdoor allergies...yet.

Please help.

I did not find the right solution from the internet.
